Beach Cleanups

If your planning on coming to the July cleanup you should think about being dropped off as parking may be especially challenging. July 4th hits on a Tuesday so it is anyone’s guess what day and night will actually be celebrated besides Tuesday. Summer will be in full swing which means more Oceanfront homes will have lots of people in them as people pool their money together to afford a week at the beach in an Oceanfront home.

Our chapter hosts a 2 hour beach cleanup at 9 AM and a 3 hour harbor cleanup at 8 AM on the first Saturday of each month. We also partner with OC Public Works to host an annual flood control channel cleanup on Earth Day (April) and Coastal Cleanup Day (September).  Check our calendar for changes. Beach Cleanup
For our 1st Saturday of the month beach cleanups we will meet on the beach in front of Prospect street and Ocean Front Blvd. in Newport Beach. We start at 9 AM and end at 11 AM.  Come early as parking can be a challenge. Map of Prospect street. There is a bus stop just steps away from where we meet. Harbor Cleanups

To join in on our Harbor Cleanups meet at Southwind Kayak Center at  100 N Bayside Dr, Newport Beach, CA 92660. Please wear water shoes or boots. No sandals allowed. Expect mud. The directions are tricky. When you are on Pacific Coast Highway you turn onto Bayside towards the Dunes. Then it’s your first left. If you don’t know what the Dunes are see this map. All participants over the age of 18 can sign in at the event. If you are under the age of 18 and not accompanied by your parent/guardian you need to bring this waiver (below) signed by your parent/guardian to the event.

In consideration of the undersigned’s participation in the aforementioned event and intending to be legally bound, the undersigned hereby waives, releases and forever discharges any and all rights, actions, and claims which he/she may have against the Surfrider Foundation, their representatives and affiliates for death, injury, loss and any and all damages which maybe by sustained and/or suffered in connection with Surfrider Foundation’s connection with my participation in the aforementioned event. The undersigned assumes fully responsibility and risk of bodily injury, death of property loss that can occur due to participation in the aforementioned event and releases, discharges and acquits Surfrider Foundation and their representatives from any claim or liability arising from the undersigned’s participation in the aforementioned event.
