Judith has managed environmental protection programs within cities and with the California EPA to prevent stormwater pollution, and to protect against sanitary sewer overflows related to the buildup of fats, oils and grease in our sewers from commercial kitchens. She now works directly with restaurants to help them comply and keep our beaches and waters clean. This includes her volunteer efforts in implementing Surfrider Foundation’s Ocean Friendly Restaurants program to promote the reduction of plastics including expanded polystyrene (Styrofoam), and other single-use plastics such as straws and bags, and to provide tips on preventing pollution related to the buildup of restaurant grease. Through the Ocean Friendly Restaurant program, Surfrider and our OFR certified restaurants are able to provide valuable outreach to the community on pollution prevention practices and help our restaurants and communities to be more sustainable.
